snugpak usa.com a INSULATION Softie ® The brand name for the synthetic (Polyester) filling we use for the Softie ® ranges of sleeping bags. It utilizes superfine yarns bound with special resins to produce a luxurious down like feel. It is created from staple yarns which mirror the compositions of natural insulations (as opposed to continuously extruded as in most synthetic fills) a variety of yarn processes are applied to give a more random effect, that is some are curled, some crimped and some are just left as they are. The random nature of the process results in a product that closely resembles the structure of natural insulators and the way they perform. Given all this technology Softie® is still easy to care for, washable and retains a lot of its thermal properties when wet. Softie ® Premier uses the same basic principles as traditional Softie ® but improvements in extrusion technology and binding resins in a finer, softer and more durable insulation. Both Softie ® and Softie ® Premier are exclusive to Snugpak ® . Travelsoft insulation is tailored to Snugpak’s exact brief. Ultra lightweight high loft fine fibers are used which have excellent compressibility. By design these travel orientated fibers provide less bulk of fill, yet are still able to perform very efficiently. The weight of the fibers makes it the perfect fill for adventure travel-orientated equipment. Reflectatherm ® layer – “Space Age technology in a down to earth application”. This metalized fabric is designed to reflect heat and retain warmth. A highly breathable material, which adds little to the weight or pack size of the product but provides at least 15% additional warmth whilst being undetectable by touch in the sleeping bag or garment. Our Sleeper range series of sleeping bags are filled with ISOFIBRE siliconized hollowfiber. The synthetic fibers are structured to trap warm air between tiny cavities in the fiber. When unpacked the ‘Hollowfibers’ decompress and spring back to gain maximum re-loft. 9
